Gaining, but Losing: The Terror of the Things, Part I

Nikpeplar could not stop screaming. The sounds from her mouth filled every space in the room. Words tried to emerge, but only weird sounds came forth; sounds that made the room darker. Suddenly the screaming stopped. And she could not move.

The Things that made her voice leave were scattered on the floor. On her desk. In her computer.  Things she never perceived would keep her stunted. Her mind raced. She was petrified. Was it true? Had she begun a journey where all she knew was now lost to her because of those Things lurking in the room?

Then she remembered. There was a chance she could conquer the Things, but was it too late…
